DUST 514 Open Beta Video: Emergent Gameplay Invades the Console Universe

DUST 514 aims to revolutionise the console FPS market with emergent gameplay in the persistent EVE Universe. This new video, released to mark the Open Beta, showcases the possibilities.

The first-person shooter genre is typically a fire-and-forget experience. Flavour-of-the-month titles are forced to re-release, re-invent and re-brand themselves regularly to stay in the game.

CCP Games aims to deliver something different with its free-to-play massively multiplayer shooter DUST 514 for the Playstation 3. Perhaps even revolutionise the console FPS market.

Game design concepts honed over ten years of cultivating their EVE Online sci-fi sandbox have made CCP Games industry masters at delivering a persistent universe, emergent gameplay and a meaningful experience.

Borrowing from the successful EVE Online “Butterfly Effect” video, an evolving game experience is the core message of the new DUST 514 trailer, in which we see a single mercenary take her first steps into ground combat and slowly see the universe of New Eden unfold before her. She becomes drawn in to bigger and more involved conflicts and as her skill improves she utilises more advanced equipment, mechanised armour and aerial combat vehicles alongside an ever-increasing number of allies.

Of course, the opportunity for a quick run-and-gun will always be there too, but the DUST 514 mercenary can invest time to develop, network and establish effective and renowned fighting forces.

DUST 514 aims not to be fired and forgotten, but marked and remembered.

The Open Beta has already begun and is available to download and play for free on the Playstation 3.

Ok I am impressed but with one question puzzling my mind, which is, who is going to voice classic snake now that David Hayter was let go of the project? Keyfer southerland better not be voicing classic snake. David Hayter is classic sneaker and I wanted to remain this way for the sake of my good teenage memories.

Too bad you guys want a Video show. Been thinking of starting my own Audio gaming podcast since I currently have 40 MMOs loaded and cycle through then all, depending on my mood.
