Portal Gun Signed and Sold for Charity | Portal

A Portal gun signed by Valve’s team for charity was auctioned on Ebay for $1,655 for the Child’s Play Charity.

Portal is one of the most well-known and universally beloved titles in gaming.  Aside from it’s sheer entertainment value, few games can seriously claim to be required reading, so it has clearly had a real and positive effect on the perception of games on a whole.

Now it looks like that reputation, both within and without the community of gamers, has been put to positive use.  Valve’s entire team signed a replica Portal gun for the charity event Games Art and Music and even after the event was over, that act proved valuable for charity again.

GAAM auctioned that signed Portal gun on Ebay, earning a final total of over $1,600 with the funds earned from said auction to be used to benefit the Child’s Play Charity.  The charity is intended as a platform for gamers to donate funding to in order to make the lives of children easier in hospitals, and in 2012 it had over $3.7 million in donations.

Just don’t tell the NRA that you played Call of Duty while donating.
