iPod nano screen fault alert

This morning The Times newspaper reports problems with the iPod nano.

It reveals that UK high street electrical retailer, Dixons, is selling five iPod nano’s every minute, but warns that some new nano owners are complaining that the device’s screen is easily scratched.

Staff at Apple’s Regent Street store are receiving multiple such complaints, and a US website, FlawedMusicPlayer.com, has launched.

The site is gathering stories of iPod nano woes, mainly claims of “inexplicably cracked screens”.

Apple says its designers created the screen using the toughest polycarbonate available.

A review on Ars Technica describes early stress tests on the product.

The site found the device extremely resistant to damage – the music still played even after the music player was run over by a car, though the screen no longer functioned.
