Wolfson revenue up 43%

Scottish electronics components company, Wolfson Microelectronics, continues to benefit from the iPod craze, returning higher profits and revenue for its second quarter.

The company revealed a second quarter profit of $11.5 million, with revenue climbing 43 per cent to $47.7 million. Revenue from portable devices – including iPods – climbed 82 per cent to $33.7 million.

Looking ahead, the company revealed it has an order backlog as it begins its third quarter 2006. The company also admitted that it expects “a strong seasonal increase in demand” during the third quarter.
