MacExpo attendance up

MacExpo 2003 is off to a strong start, show organizers told Macworld UK.

Event director Bob Denton confirmed: “The seminars and conferences are going really well. If you add attendance figures for those to the attendance we have seen so far for people through the doors, we are three per cent up on last year.”

He confirmed that as of 4pm yesterday, attendance was 7,674 – 6,973 on the door, with another 701 visitors who had attended the conferences.

He added that these figures integrate the organizer’s new system for measuring registrations, which removes duplicates when people have registered more than once for the show.

“There have been some incredible stories from the show floor, too,” he added. “One major reseller who is trading here has taken orders worth in excess of £100,000,” he claimed.

The event continues at Islington’s Business Design Centre today and tomorrow. Tomorrrow’s show will see Kiss 100’s Tall Paul DJ live at the show, in a day focused on music and Apple’s market-leading iPod.
