EA increases PC Games price by almost 133% in India, Gamers start #EAPCIndia campaign

A Ridiculous Decision by EA (India), the publisher has increased PC games price by almost 133% in India. EA announced couple of days ago that it will price FIFA 14 at Rs 2,499 and Battlefield 4 and Need for Speed: Rivals at Rs 3,499. That’s a massive increase in price (66% to 133%) from last year’s price of 1,499.

Battlefield 4The main reason behind this price hike is that EA would like prices for its PC games around the world to be the equivalent of $60 (according to MCV India).

We agree that due to weak performance of Indian Rupee against US Dollar (Current Rate: $1 = Rs 60) price hike was the only option left with publishers, but hike of 66% to 133% is just an utter non-sense from EA.

Other publishers has also increased PC games price in India, but hike for non-EA games is far less severe. Games like Watch Dogs and Batman: Arkham Origins are currently up for pre-order for 1,499, less than half the price of an EA PC game (for those who are unaware of: New PC games normally retail for Rs 999 in India).

Indian PC gamers have started #EAPCIndia campaign via Facebook and Twitter to make their voices heard against the rising price of EA’s PC games. Here are a few reactions from Indian PC gamers on Twitter.
